Estelleta Hackshaw is a proud graduate of the University of Hartford with a B.S in Chemistry where she conducted breast cancer research for two years using biochemistry and electroanalytical techniques. Currently, she is a fourth year doctoral candidate in the Ondrechen Lab working on computational approaches towards allosteric enzymes.

Darrin Bath is a third year PhD candidate from central Michigan. Prior to Northeastern, he earned an AS in Chemistry from Lansing Community College and a BA in Chemistry from Wayne State University. While at Wayne State, Darrin participated in research under the direction of Dr. Christine Chow. Since joining Northeastern, Darrin has joined both the Ondrechen Research Group and the Beuning Lab. Through a mix of wet and dry lab techniques, his research aims to investigate the influence of missense mutations on urea cycle enzymes, attempting to appreciate their role in pathogenesis. Collaborations with the both Wales and Skinner Research Groups have been established to further the project.

Bruno Mochi is a third-year PhD candidate in Chemistry from Maryland. He completed his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania. His current current research is investigating how mutations effect Ornithine transcarbamylase and its catalytic behavior on a molecular level. He employs computational techniques such as QM/MM, molecular dynamics and electrostatic analysis tools such as POOL.

Irem Kilic is a second-year PhD student in Chemistry. Originally from Turkey with Circassian heritage, she completed her undergraduate studies at Boğaziçi University, where she double majored in Chemistry and Molecular Biology & Genetics. Her current research focuses on two main projects: using computational drug discovery approaches to target the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein, and investigating ERK2 protein structure and function.
Masters Students

Meghana Atre is from Pune, India. I completed my undergrad in Bioengineering from MIT SBSR, and I was the gold medalist during my graduation. I am pursuing an MS in Bioinformatics from Northeastern University. Currently, I am working on molecular dynamics simulations of DNA polymerase kappa and it’s cancer-associated variants. I am interested in translating protein structural dynamics into new drug design and personalized treatment strategies.

Trang Tu, originally from Vietnam, spent 8 years in Seoul, South Korea, where she completed her undergraduate degree in Biotechnology at Yonsei University. She is currently a master’s student in Bioinformatics at Northeastern University. She joined Professor Mary’s lab to work on an RNA-binding project, and is in her final semester of her second year.
